| Revealed in the Magic Crystal trilogy, the Galactic Confederation of Unified Planets was at first a backdrop for the adventures of Altor. As the story gradually unfolds, it has been gaining importance, and I get more and more mail asking about it... |
I
n fact, the basic principles of the Confederation are totally compatible
with our own planet's situation - which is still a few steps away from
meeting the criteria for earth's acceptance into it.
This matter really does deserve a section of its own here.
The Galactic Confederation includes the better part of all the inhabited
planets in the galaxy.
The requirements for joining it are quite simple:
A planet qualifies for acceptance into the Galactic Confederation as of when all its inhabitants succesfully unite around a single and peaceful planetary government that aptly represents it.
This implies that a civilization reach a level of equilibrium and maturity and that all local conflicts be resolved.

One of the criteria to recognize the progress of a balanced civilization is
its capacity to integrate all its currents of thought, even of its smallest
minority. Indeed, the confederation's greatest wealth is the variety of worlds that make it up, and therefore how they complement eachother. .
When a planet reaches this point in its evolution, it is then officially
contacted by the confederation.

ll over we can hear: No, we are not alone in the universe. But why don't they come to us? It is crucial for those who have not yet reached such a point in their evolution to find their balance by their own means, for if they were to be contacted too soon, they wouldn't have fashioned their own singular identity, and their own unique potential might be smothered by others more advanced. It is crucial for those who have not yet reached such a point in their evolution to find their balance by their own means, for if they were to be contacted too soon, they wouldn't have fashioned their own singular identity, and their own unique potential might be smothered by others more advanced. This might well explain why so many witness accounts of ufo's do confirm such an alien presence, always only passing by, without meeting with us. |

Now, time will tell when we can be granted access to the Confederation. Not withstanding that civilizations do vanish in murderous warfare before ever reaching such a level. As with any organism, it stands to reason that non-viable systems end up cancelling themselves out. But once we realize this is just the fate mankind is risking at this time, it's utterly clear how urgent it is for us to grow out of the childish consciousness that inhibits us. |
